Holiday Entertaining: Thanksgiving Edition Part III

These simple and festive cocktails are sure to impress your guests before your Thanksgiving dinner!

Felicitation Punch  
A sweet & tart whiskey punch

What you'll need
  • 3 ounces Rich Simple Syrup
  • 12 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 4 ounces maraschino liqueur
  • 1.5 liters chilled club soda
  • Ice, preferably 1 large block
  • 6 ounces Irish whiskey
  • Strips of zest from 4 lemons
  • One 1-liter bottle gin
What you'll need to do
  • In a punch bowl, muddle the lemon zest with the whiskey. Add the gin and let stand for 2 hours.
  • Stir in the maraschino liqueur, lemon juice and Rich Simple Syrup and refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours.
  • Just before serving, stir in the club soda and add ice.

Cranberry-Spice Cocktail

What you'll need

  • 1 orange wedge
  • 13 cranberries
  • Three 1-inch pieces crystallized ginger— 2 minced and 1 whole for garnish
  • 2 ounces Aperol
  • 1 ounce Lillet Blanc
  • Ice
  • 4 ounces hard cider
  • 4 dashes Cranberry-Anise Bitters or Peychaud's bitters

What you'll need to do

  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle the orange wedge with 10 of the cranberries and the minced ginger.
  • Add the Aperol, Lillet Blanc, bitters and ice. Shake well.
  • Double-strain the drink into an ice-filled Collins glass and top off with the hard cider.
  • Garnish with the 3 remaining cranberries and the slice of ginger skewered on a toothpick.

The Goldwyn Follies Punch
An apple, black tea, cranberry, and cinnamon punch with gin
What you'll need

  • 1.5 oz Gin
  • .5 oz Cinnamon Syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 oz Apple juice
  • 1 oz Cranberry juice
  • 1 oz Brewed black tea, chilled
  • Garnish: Thin apple slices
  • Glass: Cocktail or coupe
What you'll need to do
  • Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice.
  • Shake, and strain into a chilled cocktail or coupe glass.
  • Garnish with thin apple slices.
To make the Cinnamon Syrup
What you'll need
  • 2 to 3 Cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
  • 5 oz Sugar
  • 5 oz Water
What you'll need to do
  • Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce heat to low and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for at least six hours. Strain, and store in the refrigerator.
